In the Spring of 2020, Fulcrum Risk Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SC Medical Association (SCMA), and its Board of Directors approved financing for a Scholarship for Residents in South Carolina. Those that applied were eligible to be awarded $1500.
Founded in 1994, Fulcrum was created to provide insurance products and benefit consulting services to the health care community in South Carolina.
After serving the medical community of South Carolina as a full-service broker for 25 years, we decided we wanted to invest in the lives of the next generation of physicians through these scholarship opportunities” said Brian Morris, President of Fulcrum Risk Solutions
The scholarship is open to South Carolina residents who are members of the SC Medical Association.
There will be 4 scholarships for $1500.00 each. One will be offered in each region of the state: The Upstate, the Midlands, the Coast and the Lowcountry.
We are excited to congratulate and announce the first scholarship recipient, Sean Christensen, MD, a third-year Psychiatric Resident at MUSC in Charleston. Dr. Christensen said he plans to use the scholarship to improve the quality of life of those around him, especially other healthcare providers.
“By embracing opportunities to better physician training, we invest in health care providers who may go on to provide exceptional patient care. This mission of caring for the organization and thereby caring for the population which we serve is at the heart of my applying for this scholarship”, says Christensen.
Applications for 2021 will be accepted from January 1 – March 31, 2021 and available on the SCMA (www.scmedical.org) and Fulcrum (www.Fulcrumrisksolutions.com) websites.
