Chief Executive Officer and Chief Legal Officer
Richele Taylor is the CEO and CLO of Fulcrum Risk Solutions. As a subsidiary business of the South Carolina Medical Association, Fulcrum began as a way to support physician practices by assisting them with their insurance needs. Over the years Fulcrum has branched out to support all business types with their insurance needs. However, unlike a traditional insurance brokerage firm, Fulcrum’s profits are utilized to improve health care and support physicians through its SCMA relationship. Richele oversees both businesses, managing the growth and strategy of both companies.
With a background in employment law and legislative policy, Richele served as Chief Legal Counsel to Governors Henry McMaster and Nikki Haley. She also served in Governor Haley’s Cabinet as Director of the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR), which houses the state Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) program and professional licensing. Before working in the policy arena, Richele spent over a decade working at a national employment law firm providing day-today advice and litigation support concerning a variety of employment issues, such as discrimination, sexual and other types of harassment; Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) violations; wage and hour matters, OSHA violations; and other matters.
Richele serves on the Physicians Advocacy Institute (PAI) Board, the South Carolina Access for Justice Commission and Executive Board, and the State Regulation of Public Utilities Review Committee. Richele graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law where she was a Dean’s List recipient and published member of The South Carolina Law Review.
